I’m a relentless experimenter. Trying new ways to tackle a challenge is what drives my creativity. Being stuck with one way to do things is definitely not my style. There is no better way to get good at what you do than to face every challenge with curiosity and positivity.
My education started with an artistic approach, by studying art, printmaking and graphic design, but I shifted my creative learning to a more customer oriented approach as I got a B.Sc. in industrial design and visual communication.
Where have you earned your spurs?
After graduation, I got a position as a visual designer at the Customer Experience Management unit in Tieto. I’ve had the chance to participate in interesting projects involving recruitment, campaigns and corporate websites.
Almost one year later, I landed to Rightware, where I worked at the forefront of automotive innovation for four and a half years. I helped to envision new approaches to the driving experience and I was involved in production projects of HMI for cars with some of the well known automotive manufacturers. Additionally, I took part in content creation for the marketing team and in the development of the company’s brand identity.
Why Columbia Road?
Columbia Road puts people first, and it’s visible in every aspect of the company. Personally I thrive in an environment where individuals are able to share ideas freely and to learn from each other through it. It’s not easy to create a culture where failing is not seen as a bad outcome, but rather an opportunity to learn and improve from. Columbia Road has been able to create a culture that helps individuals to grow and flourish through peer support.
Lauri, what will make our clients love Ciro?
“Ciro is a very devoted individual who aims for sheer quality in everything he does through attention to detail and envisioning the needs and wants of end users. He strives to always create designs that people will fall in love with. When faced with unfamiliar challenges, Ciro ramps up his game with acute concentration and adaptation whilst being open minded to new ideas and concepts. Ciro is extremely creative and excels in transforming complex content and processes into simple outputs. He is a designer who truly designs for people, which is also reflected in the way he loves being around people and connecting with them,” says Lauri Eloranta, Managing Partner at Columbia Road.
What makes your heart beat a little faster?
“I love cooking. I consider it to be a full-on design project, with its own design processes. As an Italian living in Finland, I try my best to bring a piece of my culture for everyone to savour, literally.
I also love travelling. I get a thrill out of visiting the most unusual places and finding the most obscure sites to check out,” says Ciro.
