Dalya_SamaraHi Dalya, How did you get good at what you do?

I studied mechanical engineering at KTH in Stockholm where I learnt a lot of what I know today, but started working in sales and business development as a student. I applied everything I learned in university, such as problem-solving, planning, formulas, presentation and logic, into the sales world, and I found that my skills applied really well. To me, engineering knowledge makes sense wherever it is applied. I have built my skills from both worlds: a business mind with a tactical and calculating approach.

Where have you earned your spurs?

After graduating, I travelled around the world and worked in everything from embassies to SaaS companies. It was there where I built sales development processes and teams to increase company efficiency. I was part of a team introducing the concept of sales development in countries and to companies that had never heard of it before, which is how I gained my experience and expanded my knowledge in the field.

Why Columbia Road?

When I moved back to Sweden, I began following a few companies in the region and Columbia Road was one of them. I was initially impressed by the unique, non-hierarchical company culture which revolves around employee growth. I remember reading a few case studies and loved their dedication to sharing their knowledge to help different types of customers achieve growth. Getting the chance to be a part of Columbia Road and working alongside such great talents felt like a privilege, so the day I saw a job opening I jumped at the opportunity!

"One of the best skills Dalya has is the ability to listen. She can listen to what the client is saying and help identify pains and needs which they might not even be aware of. Dalya has 6 years of experience in the field which has enabled her to be able to work with companies of all sizes, from startups to corporate and armed her with the ability to build sales development teams that focus on trust-based client relationships. Her background in the engineering world paired with her analytical mindset and positive attitude is a recipe for success when heading our sales development efforts," says Lauri Eurén, General Manager at Columbia Road.

What makes your heart beat a little faster?

I am a mother of two beautiful girls who have taught me that everything in life is a process, and have introduced me to a side of myself that I am proud of. Aside from being a mother, I am a foodie and a travel junkie. I love experiencing new cultures and trying food that those cultures have to offer! To find peace and stay sane in this hectic life, I end every night with yoga and meditation.
