Maija Satama joins Columbia Road

Maija-Satama-consultantHi Maija, How did you get good at what you do?

It must be in my genes :D I just love people and I have a natural urge to understand their needs. In my Bachelor’s degree I studied customer relationship and marketing and continued learning after starting to work. I’m curious about all things related to marketing technology, customer engagement, growth and all tech topics such as AI.

Where have you earned your spurs?

I have always emphasised working with people. Customer satisfaction and happy employees have been close to my heart in every step of my career. I started my career in HR and focusing on our own people, then continued to business development, operational management and also taking care of our clients. My career has mostly evolved around the IT world, working both in consulting and in product companies.

I’m thrilled when I can help our clients succeed in their business with the services we produce. All steps and different workplaces in my career have had one thing in common, no matter how big or small the company has been – building trustworthy relationships with people.

Why Columbia Road?

I knew Columbia Road from past work collaborations. We had had some cooperative projects and I always thought that Columbia Road is a company that really has the right kind of focus and that they are truly driving the change. In my opinion roadies possess a large variety of crucial skills and an ambition for success in their customer projects, and that’s something that I respect! I wanted to be part of the deeply motivated team that is always eager to help the customer.

Lauri, what will make our clients love Maija?

“Maija is a warm persona with a strong urge to help customers succeed. She puts her heart and mind into every relationship that she builds and does her best to always be available for our clients. Maija constantly thinks in terms of what would benefit the customer the most, and would never offer solutions that don’t prioritise their interests. Her rich background in various challenging business fields has given her tools to succeed in demanding situations, as well as the readiness to come up with innovative solutions,” says Lauri Eloranta, Managing Partner at Columbia Road.

What makes your heart beat a little faster?

“I love horses and sailing! Someday I want to be in the TOP5 carriage drivers in Finland. Usually when I’m not working you can find me at the stables with my horse or at the Kotka harbour sailing or fixing our boat,” says Maija.
