alex-profile.jpgTopology, algebra, graphs, algorithms - as licentiate in discrete mathematics, Aleksandr Pasharin is a mastermind on a whole other level. He’s been a mathematics lecturer in University of Helsinki and polytechnic schools for years but has recently transformed his interest in web development into a vocation.

We met Aleksandr at a student event and he immediately stroke a chord with us. “I was hugely impressed by the atmosphere, how nice everyone was and the Columbia Road outlook on digital commerce. The feeling has remained and I’m very happy to have found a job where I can grow as a web developer and use all the knowledge I have a as mathematician,” Aleksandr says.

“Aleksandr’s skills will help our clients reach new levels within analytics. He’s able to run a variety of models and statistics, analyze them and based on the findings build predictive algorithms which can help with logistics, stock management and marketing to mention a few,” says Sampo Hämäläinen, Managing Partner at Columbia Road.

When he’s not solving complex mathematical problems, Aleksandr plays drums in a handful of bands, is an avid record collector and music enthusiast. He enjoys going to cultural events and playing board games. Aleksandr loves animals and is the proud owner of a dog called Belka (squirrel in Russian) and cat called Silli. His academic profile nicely paints a picture of what digital commerce is about: numbers, predictions and finding successful models.
