hannu-profile.jpgA good mix of academia and corporate experience, Hannu brings in a fresh angle on human-centric ecommerce design.

Hannu has an M.Sc. in Information Networks from Aalto University, where he specialised in knowledge intensive business and strategic process development. His power is strong on the user angle, which is complemented with studies in human interaction and service design.

He also had a love affair with Aalto School of Business, where he participated in an Information Technology Program which focused on direct client work. Hannu did digital strategy for pharmaceutical company Orion, and thought about customer journeys and bought service design at Posti.

But don’t be fooled by all the high flying academia, during all of this time Hannu worked with some of biggest companies in Finland. Like the Finnish state, where he was the Editor in Chief for the Finnish Transport Agency’s website. After which he helped Fonecta’s customers do better SEO and ran affiliate marketing for himself, just to learn. Next he went to Metso to help run the logistics management system, but actually ended up producing, filming and editing internal marketing videos to attract more users for the system.

“After graduating I was set on going into service design and thus Columbia Road fell out of scope, but I had noticed the distinguishable brand and it seemed like Columbia Road really had a great thing going on. And well, here we are, you lured me in. I guess the biggest selling point to me was the possibility to learn from so many super intelligent and experienced colleagues,” Hannu says.

He’s got this magic ability to understand any industry’s core in a blink of an eye and he’s able to turn those learnings into actionable strategy,” says Sampo Hämäläinen, Managing Partner at Columbia Road.

Always looking for new things to learn and not afraid of massive tasks, after a day's work Hannu goes back to his project of renovating an apartment in a 100-year old building. He’s into long walks with his wife, loves architecture and urban development. Nature and the sea are important to Hannu and he daydreams of owning a boat.
